Area identified as Natural Reserve in 1984 by the Regional Environment Office. It takes part of the Wetland Areas of the South of Cordoba. It is a temporary lagoon due to its little depth. In summer, the salt is deposited on the floor surface. It has abundant fauna: nowadays it is the lagoon with the most of aquatic species in the whole province.

It is located in 8 kilometres away from the town, following the sand road from the small village “Puerto Alegre”.
